Reporting Analyst

Position summary

The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for management and control of (accounting) processes and procedures with a specific focus on investor reporting and operates within the Support & Control (“S&C”) Sub-Unit. The professional will gain an in-depth understanding of the private equity business, working procedures and client portfolio accounting system and will work in an international, challenging and highly professional environment where cooperation, productivity and flexibility are valued. The Reporting Analyst will report to the VP, head of the S&C Reporting unit.

This company is a leading global private equity investor with over $76 billion of assets under management as per December 31, 2023. Approximately 75% of these funds are invested in private equity funds globally, including secondary transactions, with the remainder invested directly in companies as a co-investor (equity and mezzanine) in Europe, North America and non-traditional markets. The company has approximately 225 employees based primarily in Amsterdam, London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. We are currently looking for passionate candidates to join their Private Equity Support & Control team, located in Amsterdam-Zuid.

The Investment Accounting team is a diverse team of 31 colleagues, of which 52% is female and 48% is male and with more than 10 different nationalities. The Investments Accounting team consists of two sub teams: Operations and Support & Control (“S&C”). The Operations Team is focused on servicing Investors and Deal Teams. The S&C Team is focused on servicing Operations and other Support teams.

The Investment Accounting team is responsible for the accounting and administration of all investment - related activities as well as the preparing reports from this information.

Primary Responsibilities

Coordination of reporting activities (10%):

  • Assist in keeping reports and reporting templates up to date.
  • Assist in preparing audit information 

Accounting and Reporting (60%)

  • Satisfy information/reporting needs of external and internal clients
  • Determine the appropriate accounting policies to be used in different scenarios after
  • consultation with various users on the requirements.
  • Write/update notes and disclosures for financial statements based on (new) GAAP rules which require thorough understanding and up to date knowledge of the GAAP rules and changes.
  • Prepare / review Transaction Types definitions and accounting policies/business rules and ensure documentation is available and up to date.
  • Ensure data used is accurate and complete and provided timely.
  • Prepare / analyze / review the reports to ensure completeness and integrity of information,
  • showing thorough understanding of the use of information by the end user.

Projects (20%)

  • Execute assigned project tasks:
  • Make project planning.
  • Engage and manage project resources.
  • Monitor and report progress.

Develop Professionals (10%)

  • Provide coaching/training to colleagues in the preparation and review of reports.

Requirements

Education & Certificates

  • Bachelor / master’s degree in business economics, business administration and/or
  • information sciences.
  • Audit qualification (RA, CA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and expertise in the areas of audit and accounting/control
  • preferably in financial services environment.
  • Fundamental Accounting knowledge and high level of Financial Statement / GAAP knowledge.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years working experience in the field of systems /accounting/control.
  • Competencies & Attributes
  • Strong critical thinking and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to handle large amounts of data.
  • Strong attention for detail, with ability to work on several tasks at the same time.
  • Focus on consistency throughout
  • Team player.
  • Strong communicative skills with demonstrated ability in technical writing, fluency in English.

Position-specific Technical Requirements

  • Experience in working with accounting systems preferably in a financial service environment.
  • Experience working on projects.
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced knowledge).
