Senior Financial Accountant

Our client is a leading global private equity investor with over $76 billion of assets under management as per December 31, 2023. Approximately 75% of these funds are invested in private equity funds globally, including secondary transactions, with the remainder invested directly in companies as a co-investor (equit and mezzanine) in Europe, North America and non-traditional markets. The company has approximately 225 employees based primarily in Amsterdam, London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Financial Accounting team is part of Finance and Operations, and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Financial Accounting team is responsible for the consolidated financial accounting and reporting of The company and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies. The team is split in two sub-teams GL Accounting/Controlling and Reporting/Financial Planning & Analysis. It is linked to the Accounts Payable team. The main activities that the Reporting/FP&A team performs are as follows:

  • Recording revenues (Management Fees, Carried Interests, etc.) for the management entities
  • Accruing expenses for the management entities
  • Recording bank transactions and investments
  • Analyzing monthly P&L deviations (Month to Month, actual vs budget and reforecast, etc.)
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reconciling all accounts in the balance sheet
  • Maintaining and updating accounting policies under the different GAAPs
  • Assist auditing enquires

The team works closely with the Investment Accounting team, the Treasury team, the Portfolio & Risk Analysis team and the Legal & Tax team to constantly shape, design and improve the processes and controls wherever needed. Position Summary

The candidate will take part in a diverse and wide array of financial accounting activities of the management company and its subsidiaries/affiliates. The responsibilities of the (senior) accountant in the team will grow over time and include a mix both accounting and controlling skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and approving the accounting of Invoices input by the AP team
  • Accounting and closing process
  • Recording and validating all kinds of transactions and other information in accordance
  • with the appropriate accounting standards using the accounting system (PeopleSoft). This
  • includes bank bookings, investments, management fees, payroll, T&E, income and
  • expense accruals and tax calculation.
  • Participating in month-end and year-end closing of management entities.
  • Reviewing monthly financial results of management entities.
  • Monitoring and Reconciling the balances of the management entities.
  • External/Internal billing
  • Facilitating audits (Financial, SOX and ISAE)
  • Making recommendations regarding process and efficiency improvements, particularly focus on systems/tools

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in accounting or finance required.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant work experience in accounting required.Competencies & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a team
  • Successfully managed multiple responsibilities under deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must. Experience with data visualization tools and Macros is a
