Group Controller

The purpose of the job is to ensure that the Group remains in control of its financial results and to adequately report to the Board of Directors and Supervisory Board on the Group financials. The main areas of attention are financial reporting and analysis (i.e. planning & control cycle), enhancing overall control environment and liaising with the regional controllers.

The role reports into the Group Finance Director and requires approximately 30% of international travel, primarily within Europe (and does not involve weekends). You will work from the headquarters in The Hague. Salary is maximum approximately € 80k + bonus.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Group planning & control process; preparations and communication to the various entities/stakeholders
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting to Board of Directors and Supervisory Board
  • Preparation of group budgets and forecasts
  • Specific Balance sheet items on a group level
  • Liaison between regional controllers and group
  • Identify and implement (financial) improvement opportunities
  • Annual reporting process and interaction with group auditor
  • Development of internal and external (group) reporting
  • Determine group and local work in progress valuation
  • Controller for the holding companies
  • Provide(non-)requested advice/insights
  • Supervising staff member(s)

Involved in:

  • Reports to Board of Directors and Supervisory Board on a (non-)regular basis
  • Business case evaluations
  • Development and execution of the Groups Finance Vision M&A projects
  • Strategic planning process
  • Keeping up to date financial tooling (consolidation tool)

The ideal candidate

  • Master degree in economics/controlling or related field
  • 5 -10 years of working experience in an (preferred international) business setting with a sound understanding of the above mentioned responsibilities
  • Experience in goal setting; and in guarding and realizing them
  • Experience with working in a matrix organisation
  • High level of professionality
  • Excellent Excell, Powerpoint skills required
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP); Consolidations tools and Business Intelligence tools is preferred
  • Experience in building reports
  • English language fluency, speaking and writing; additional languages are welcomed
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Willing to travel (estimate 30%)
  • Able to act as coach towards other staff members
  • Cultural awareness, healthy business sceptical attitude
