About Starbucks Amsterdam Roasting Plant

The manufacturing operations team is responsible for the green coffee processing, roasting, packaging, and shipping of Starbucks coffee for customers in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. The team in the Amsterdam Roasting Plant is the single source in EMEA and responsible to meet the daily shipping schedule.

About the role

As a Finance Analyst you contribute to Starbucks success by supporting, developing and improving the financial processes that enable sound planning, and decision-making for the Amsterdam Roasting Plant and Milan Roastery. You also facilitate the development of operating plans. In addition, the Finance Analyst supports the Finance manager in reviewing and developing relevant and efficient controls and compliance process and support to deliver improvements.

In this role you report directly to the Finance Manager Manufacturing. You are part of the Finance team together with the Finance Manager. You work at the Amsterdam Roasting Plant location, hybrid working is possible.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Analyses and provides feedback on monthly financial results and key performance measures
  • Works with budget owners, accounting in UK and Accounts Payable to understand anomalies or flag missing postings
  • Prepares management reports against forecast, budget and prior year results
  • Supports manager in development of ARP’s annual operating budget, quarterly and rolling forecasts and supports monthly reporting metrics and performance improvement plans for ARP and Milan.
  • Works with operations and planning & logistics teams to ensure accuracy of reported physical inventory and inventory corrections or provisions.
  • Analyses discrepancies and provides recommendations.
  • Monthly analysis of MUV inventory variances from cycle count, scrap from production process etc.
  • Supports engineers and operation managers in completing capital request forms and tracking progress
  • Prepares/assist with external audit and liaises with EMEA accounting. Supports local audits initiated by the EMEA or Starbucks Group and statutory audit for all Manufacturing BV.

About the you

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in business administration
  • minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience in role(s) performing financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, periodic closure activities and reporting
  • Experience in Manufacturing environment required, preferably within FMCG industry
  • Logistics and Supply Chain experience is a plus
  • Management accounting qualification (i.e. CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) is a plus
  • Systems (ERP) knowledge and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a local and remote teams
  • Deals effectively with ambiguity, managing multiple priorities and able to lead team through complex changes.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Continuous improvement, result driven mindset
  • Ability to build effective relationships internally and externally and influence stakeholders successfully.

What can you expect from Starbucks?

  • Salary is between €58-65k per annum with room for growth
  • Annual bonus of 10%
  • A 12-month contract. If we are happy to work with each other, an indefinite contract will follow.
